Bn Pleco Water Temp
Hello i have 13 rummynose tetra and a couple of bullet proof german blue rams along with an albino bn pleco i am looking for an ideal tank temp where all my fish will thrive.
Bn pleco water temp. The water temperature should be kept anywhere from 15 27oc 60 80 f the water hardness should be fall within 20 25 and the ph should be within 6 5 7 5. Don t know how reliable the books are but bns are ok with colder temps. Depending on what other fish you are housing with your bristlenose you ll need a minimum tank size of 25 gallons and you should ensure than the bottom of the tank which is where they spend most of their time is large. Much below this and they may start to develop health issues become lethargic may float up to the surface and could die if low temperatures persist.
I just purchased bn pleco s x 3 and 2 clown plecos. The common pleco is considered one of the most resilient favoring temperatures ranging from 72 to 86 f 22 to 30 c but able to withstand temperatures into the mid to low 60 s 15 c provided it s not for an extensive period of time. Not thrive but survive for short periods. In terms of the best water temperatures and ph range for bristlenose plecos we would recommend anywhere from 60 80 degrees fahrenheit and a ph range of 5 5 7 6.
Personally in an aquarium inside i would never let a bn pleco go below 70 degrees. Bristlenose pleco cold water bristlenose pleco temperature celsius can bristlenose catfish live in cold water can. Bristlenose plecos are an incredibly hardy fish so the temperature and ph range is a bit broader than you would expect for a more fragile fish. Bristlenose plecos do well in a tank of 20 gallons or larger and can handle a wide range of water conditions from soft and acidic to harder and alkaline.
6 5 7 5 and soft to medium but is highly adaptable temperature. This may hold true but it would be best not to keep them with larger central and south american cichlids. This was in reference to people who have outdoor tropical ponds and they bring their fish in for the winter. There are close to 150 species in this family and the most common of them all is termed as the common pleco.
Outdoor fish seem to handle temperature fluctuations more than aquarium fish. Some hobbyists have found success with bristlenose plecos in cichlid tanks. I had a few books which stated that bn temp is 16c something c. The shorter days of winter and the water change make the plecos think it is the start of the rainy season.
Since this fish needs a lot of oxygen it requires perfect fresh water all the time. If the tank has a female s she will enter his territory and spawning site when she is ready to lay eggs. 70 80 f 20 27 c. It s tricky because of the rams being that they prefer warmer temps but i don t want to make the rest of my fish to suffer.
29 gallons care level.
