Blender Uv Unwrap Not Working

Blender uv unwrap not working. Open a uv image editor window. And it worked great with uv unwrap. Anybody know what s going on. The uv unwrap tool is used to unwrap the faces of the object.
See the screenshot below. The uvs menu will appear in the uv editor after unwrapping has been performed once. You can also do this from the uv editor with uv unwrap or u. Then select unwrap or press u while mouse is over 3d view.
The main section of the ship is curved in the uv editor instead of straight like its supposed to be. Of course it is also possible to unwrap more than one ring at once. I used to have a good unwrap but then i changed the mesh and now it doesn t work. In the 3d viewport select uv unwrap or u and select unwrap.
