When you add bleach to your swimming pool the sodium hypochlorite is raised in your swimming pools water which raises the chlorine levels.

Chlorine bleach as discussed above is not bound to a stabilizer so when you add chlorine bleach to the pool it will go right to work killing microbes and sanitizing. Maintaining your swimming pool with bleach can involve two things. If you simply want to raise the chlorine level use 0 025 gallons of bleach to raise a 1000 gallons pool by 2 5 ppm. When you test the water you ll probably find that the concentration of free available chlorine is has fallen below the recommended value of 1 part per million and this may be despite the fact that the total chlorine concentration is within acceptable limits.
